Police investigating sexual assault allegations at Pauline Johnson

MONDAY, NOV. 22, 2021

There are currently sexual assault allegations in our school community that are very concerning, connected to interactions between Pauline Johnson Collegiate & Vocational School students. We take these allegations very seriously. The Brantford Police are investigating, and we are cooperating fully. We are also conducting our own parallel investigation. We have been working to provide support to the specific students we are aware of who have been involved.

We are also addressing this issue broadly within the school today. Concurrently, we have trained staff at the school to help any student experiencing emotional distress. They will remain at the school as long as they are needed. Support staff will also facilitate referrals to community mental health services.

To protect the privacy of the individuals involved, some of the outcomes of the investigations or any related disciplinary matters will not be public information. We ask for patience as these investigations run their course, and we learn what more we can do to ensure students are safe.

The safety of the students entrusted to our care every day is our top priority. We are committed to creating an environment where students feel safe and heard.

Any important updates will be shared on Twitter @GEDSB.
