Prior to March Break, the SCS Eco-club installed two wood duck nesting boxes on school property along the edge of the Lyn River. These boxes were built by the SCS Construction Class. The wood duck boxes provided nesting habitat to tree nesting species of ducks such as: wood ducks, bufflehead and hooded mergansers. They are also used by other species of birds and some species of owls. For more information on these nesting structures see the following link: http://www.ducks.org/conservation/waterfowl-resear...

An additional nesting box was donated to a member of the community who will install it on a private wetland. The Eco-Club in partnership with the Construction program hopes to offer more of these nest boxes to individuals in the community in the near future.
