Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What do I need to do to register at Blanche E. Williams Public School?

Eligible registrations will be transferred automatically to the new school.

My child will be starting Kindergarten next school year. What do I need to do?

You can register online and select Blanche E. Williams Public School.

Can students continue at their current school if they reside within the new school’s boundary?

A legacy option is available for current Grade 7 students residing in the new school’s boundary. These students have the option to remain at their current school for the 2026-27 school year to complete Grade 8. These students would continue to be provided with transportation, if eligible (i.e., currently receiving transportation). For those students wishing to stay at their current school, please confirm your decision with your current school principal by January 31, 2026.

Will the new school have childcare available, and if so, how can families apply?

Yes, the new school will have a childcare component incorporated into the facility. The facility operator for childcare will be BGC Brantford. Registration and inquiries for childcare should be directed to BGC Brantford at 519-752-2964.  The new school will also have a Before-and-After School Program (BASP). For more information, please find resources here

Will transportation be available for students who are within a walkable distance, but who have a disability?

Transportation will be provided for students meeting the Transportation eligibility criteria determined by Student Transportation Services of Brant Haldimand Norfolk (STSBHN). Eligibility criteria include provisions for students with disabilities.

Will there be an opportunity to seek an exception on which school a student attends if they are within walking distance to a school that is not their home catchment school?

Students are expected to register at their home school, as determined by school area attendance boundaries. While the closest school facility is considered when determining school attendance area boundaries, Grand Erie must also consider other factors such as school capacity, active transportation networks and connectivity, and future growth. Please refer to the Request to Attend a School Outside the Home School Area Procedure.

Who will be the principal at the new elementary school?

Robyn Mullings, an experienced school leader with a long history of fostering welcoming, inclusive learning spaces for students and families in Grand Erie, will be Blanche E. Williams Public School’s principal. Look for more from Principal Mullings soon.
