Strides for Students

Strides for Students is more than a fundraiser. It’s a movement to support learning, opportunity, and brighter futures for students across Grand Erie.

Whether you walk, run, roll, rally your network, or donate, your impact goes far. Join Grand Erie District School Board for the first annual Strides for Students, with every step removing barriers to ensure all learners have the support, resources, and opportunities to succeed in school.

Event Details

Date: Saturday, June 13, 2026 starting at 9 a.m.
Location: Pauline Johnson Collegiate and Vocational School
Rain or shine!

  • Sign up for a 5-km race on the track or
  • Go-at-your-own-pace walk/run/roll
  • Games, prizes, food, and fun for the whole family
  • Cost per individual to enter is $25, which goes toward your fundraising total. Children 12 and under participate for free. 
  • Donors will receive a charitable tax receipt
  • Register as an individual or join as part of a team

Event Schedule

9 a.m. — Registration opens for 5K Runners only
9:30 a.m. — Race begins for 5K Runners only

9:30 a.m. — Registration opens for all other participants
10:00 a.m. — Official Opening Ceremony
10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. — Strides event begins for all other participants (may be staggered to reduce congestion)
10:30 a.m. — Runners finalists announced
11:30 a.m. — Closing Ceremony


Team and Individual Awards

It’s not just about crossing the finish line — it’s also about bringing the energy, creativity, and team pride to Strides. We’re excited to introduce a lineup of awards that recognize just that. Gather your team, get creative, and let’s make Strides for Students unforgettable! 

Awards will be given out to: 

  • Top Fundraising Team for raising the most funds overall
  • Top Individual Fundraiser for the highest individual amount raised in total
  • Over-and-Above Award for the team or individual that exceeds their fundraising goal by the greatest percentage
  • Many Hands Award to the team with the highest number of individual donors
  • Small But Mighty Award to a smaller team with a big fundraising impact
  • Best Cheer Squad to the most encouraging presence along the route
  • Student Voice Award to the team that most clearly highlights student leadership or advocacy
  • Best Team Theme for creative costumes or coordinated look
  • All-Are-Welcome Award to the team that best models inclusion, kindness, and encouragement
  • Early Bird Award to first team to register or set up their fundraising page
  • Rain-or-Shine Award for dedication and perseverance
  • Best Team Name Award
