Want to Learn Punjabi, Polish, Urdu or Arabic?

The following international language classes are being held in the 2018-2019 school year:

Punjabi Secondary Credit Class - Walter Gretzky Elementary School - students will earn a secondary school credit at the grade 12 level 1 Academic or Level 1 University.

Polish - Polish Alliance Hall - open to Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 elementary students currently registered in a publicly-funded or private school.

Punjabi - offered at 2 locations: Walter Gretzky Elementary School and Grand Erie Learning Alternatives - open to Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 elementary students currently registered in a publicly-funded or private school.

Arabic - Grand Erie Learning Alternatives - open to Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 elementary students currently registered in a publicly-funded or private school

Urdu - Grand Erie Learning Alternatives - open to Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 elementary students currently registered in a publicly-funded or private school

All NEW registration forms require Proof of Birth and Citizenship - one of the following:

  • a Canadian Birth Certificate or Baptismal Certificate
  • a Canadian Passport (not a Canada Visa within a passport)
  • Canadian Citizenship Card
  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence Form 5292 or IMM100 (verified with a passport)
  • Permanent Resident Card

INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGES

Program Information

  • Offers children the opportunity to develop and/or maintain the ability to speak, listen, read and write a new language, or in the language of their heritage.
  • Enhances students’ connection with their heritage.
  • Improves communication skills in their language of choice.
  • Strengthens cognitive development through the knowledge of an additional language.
  • Provides opportunities to learn and experience another culture.
  • Languages offered: Arabic, Polish, Punjabi, and Urdu.

Important Notes

  • Elementary language program for students entering JK through Grade 8 in September 2018.
  • Credit Classes for those entering grade 12 in September 2018.
  • Students with all levels of language proficiency are welcome.
  • Offered free of charge to Ontario residents.
  • Students need to be committed to learning and improving their skills. Good attitude, behaviour and attendance are expected of every student.
