Grand Erie Reaches Tentative Local Agreement with CUPE

Grand Erie District School Board is pleased to announce it has reached a tentative local agreement with all three of its Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) bargaining units. In Grand Erie, CUPE represents the following staff: Educational Assistants, Communicative Disorder Assistants, Food Technicians, Facility Services (Custodial and Maintenance), and Office, Clerical and Technical. 

“This is fantastic news,” said Board Chair Greg Anderson. “I want to congratulate the entire team that worked so hard to reach this agreement. CUPE staff work in a wide range of roles within our organization, positively impacting the lives of our students and their families each and every day.” 

Details of the local agreement will not be released. CUPE members will vote on the settlement for the three-year contract (September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2022) soon.

Grand Erie District School Board represents nearly 18,000 students in 58 elementary schools and more than 7,500 students in 14 secondary schools within the city of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk as well as secondary students from Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
