Graham Bell Public School opened in 1923. It was named after Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone. Victoria Public School, was originally built in 1853, and was re-named Victoria Public School in honour of the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria's coronation in July 1897. Victoria School closed in June 2002, and students there began attending Graham Bell, which became Graham Bell-Victoria Public School.
Our school is located at 56 Grand Street, in central Brantford, and has 160 students in Kindergarten to Grade Six. Our community partners are a vital and active part of school life at Graham Bell-Victoria. Brant Food for Thought provides a Breakfast and Snack Program at the school, while Strong Start Reading volunteers support literacy skills for our young students. Graham Bell Parent Council and the Health Department provide educational programs and learning activities to support staff and students learning.
At Graham Bell-Victoria, we support student learning by providing academic, and co-curricular activities that promote 21st Century skills such as: Critical-Thinking, Problem-Solving, Collaboration, Innovation, Creativity, and Communication. Students participate in Character Attributes, RAZKids and Prodigy Math, Computer Club, Home Reading programs and Sports clubs to enhance their collaborative skills, as well as to learn about respect, acceptance, perseverance and responsibility.
We are a community of learners who strive for Excellence in ourselves and others!
