Welcome to Walpole North Elementary School

A Walpole North Star...

  • sets an example for others to follow
  • consistently displays a readiness to learn
  • takes into consideration other's ideas and perspectives
  • chooses to lead and actively participate
  • follows rules even when no one is looking
  • represents WNES as an ambassador, regardless of the situation or location (e.g field trip, interacting with visitors including supply teachers, sporting events, and performances.)

Character Education

As part of our Character Education program, each month we focus on and learn about a different character attribute adopted by the Grand Erie District School Board. Every morning, during announcements, we hear a relevant quote and try to incorporate that into our daily actions. Students who consistently demonstrate that attribute are recognized at our monthly assemblies.

  • September - Responsibility
  • October - Cooperation
  • November - Courage
  • December - Compassion
  • January - Integrity
  • February - Respect
  • March - Humility
  • April - Inclusiveness
  • May - Perseverance

Academic Recognition

Every month, students are recognized for their academic achievements. The following are some possible reasons why a student would receive an academic award:

  • They earned high marks for an assignment, test, or unit.
  • They have made improvements in a number of subjects.
  • They have made great strides in a certain topic or subject (improved reading levels, improved math knowledge, etc.)
