Friday May 10

  • The Hidden Valley Café is open for business! We are selling delicious spaghetti with tomato meat sauce!  We also have deli sandwiches, a variety of cookies, brownies, beverages and jumbo freezies for sale. See you in room 100 during the lunch hour.
  • Staff, students, families, and community members are welcome to Valley Heights annual Spring Sale on Friday May 17th from 10:00 to 2:30. Our talented Horticulture, Construction, Art, and Hospitality students will be selling woodworking products, flowers, plants, pottery, and sweet and savory baked goods. Money raise will help to support these valuable programs.
    • A special offering this year will be a food truck operated by Mrs. Hevesi’s Dual Credit Cooking Class along with their mentor. Students will be cooking and serving all your favourites including burgers, hotdogs, fries, and poutine as well as specialty dishes including a delicious Greek chicken pita and a tasty roast beef stacker. The food truck opens at 10 a.m. and will run throughout the day. While enjoying your lunch, you can have your vehicle washed by the cheerleaders.

  • There will be a girls baseball practice both Monday and Tuesday in Langton after school. Please let Ms. Stark or Ms. Vandendriessche know if you can’t make it.
  • Prom Committee meeting today at lunch in Room 218. Remember to return your prom contracts to the office as it is just a few weeks away!
  • A reminder that the bottle drive fundraiser for Prom starts one week from today and runs until May 24th (no weekends)
  • Junior football start Monday! Practice will start right after school & ends at 4:30. No one goes on the field without a permission form.

Thursday May 9

  • Congratulations to the Bears of the Week Dylan Kirr and Kai Napthen. Come to the Office to pick up your voucher for the Hidden Valley Café.
  • Attention Bears! Today is the day to use your voice and cast your vote on next year’s theme for Young Canada Day at FAIR Day! Drop by outside the library today at lunch to cast your vote. The top 2 will be sent to the Fair Board for consideration.
  • Junior Football practices start Monday. Practices will be from 3 to 4:30. No one goes on the field without a signed permission form.
  • Ok Bears – guess what? Your girl's soccer team played against Cayuga yesterday in the windiest quarter final game of all time. Despite being in a tornado, your girls beat Cayuga 5 – 3. We had a goal from Ava Reimer, one from Emily Marlatt and 3 from Julia “Free Kick” Kenline. What a game! This means we move on to semis next week. Let’s go girls! There will be a brief but mandatory meeting today at the beginning of lunch in room 226 to discuss tomorrow's tournament in Waterford.

Wednesday May 8

  • The Hidden Valley Café is open for business! Today, we are serving assorted homemade pizza! We also have a variety of fresh baked homemade cookies, delicious deli sandwiches, an assortment of beverages and freezies. Come down to room 100 during the lunch hour to purchase a tasty treat.
  • Students voting for valedictorian: You cannot leave your ballots on the guidance desk. They will not count. If you brought your vote down yesterday and didn’t give it to Ms. Dedrick or Mrs. Breedyk please come down to guidance.
  • Grade 12 grads: There will be a presentation on OSAP applications May 22 during period 2.
  • SHSM students please see Mr. Dabrowski for a permission form to Toronto Motorsports in Cayuga May 17th. Students will be able to connect with local trades and learn about drag racing. $12 covers your lunch.
  • Baseball practice in Langton today after school. We will make an announcement if anything changes.
  • Please excuse the girls soccer team for period 2, 3 & 4 today for their quarter final game against Cayuga. Good luck Bears!
  • Drama Club meets today at lunch in Rm 201. See you there!
  • Do you have an amazing idea for FAIR THEMES for next year?! Drop by Room 218 and write your idea down on the banner paper. On Thursday at lunch, you can VOTE on the best idea to put forward to the Norfolk County Fair Board.

Tuesday May 7

  • There will be an equipment fitting for junior football on Wednesday May 8 after school. Meet at the main entrance to the school and plan on being here until 4.
  • Baseball practice today after school until 4:45. See you in Langton.
  • Track practice after school until 4pm Meet outside.
  • The final round of voting for valedictorian opens today. Graduating students will receive ballots in homeroom. eLearning/spare period 1 students can vote in guidance. The deadline is May 15th.

Monday May 6

  • Junior Football forms are due by Wednesday. Hand the signed forms to Mr. Samborski in Turning Point.
  • Have you completed the School Climate Survey yet? This survey helps Grand Erie and the staff here at Valley Heights better understand your experiences in school in order to make better decisions about planning and programming.
  • The survey is anonymous, confidential and voluntary. You can also skip any questions that you aren’t comfortable answering or are unable to answer.  
  • You will find the link to the survey in your school email account. It was sent out by Grand Erie on April 29th with School Climate Survey in the subject line.
  • The survey is open until May 17 and we appreciate your feedback so that we can continue to work together to make your school experience the best it can be!
  • Listen up, Bears! Your girl’s soccer team played an excellent game against Delhi on Thursday winning 5-0! 5goals and no goals on Emie Mole. We had one goal from Brooke Mayo, one from Mady Block and 3 from Ava Reimer! This secures our 3rd place finish in the West. We will play a semi-final game on Wednesday against a team from the East and we have a tournament on Friday. There is practice after school today.
  • Reminder: Girls baseball practice Tuesday after school at the Langton ball diamond. See Ms. Stark if you need a ride.
  • Boy’s Soccer Team finished their season last week. It was a positive season. Special shout out to our overworked goalie Mason McIntyre. Please return uniforms & equipment to 113.

  • Fishing Tournament permission forms are on the bulletin board outside of the workshop. Wed May 29th is the big day. $30 must be paid using School Cash Online.
