rand Erie is hosting a free viewing of The Rules of Lacrosse – and the Men Who Break Them featuring Gaylord Powless of Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation. Hear from some of the greatest names in the sport and Brantford legend, Wayne Gretzky. View the sizzle reel.
The screening begins at 6 p.m. on May 31 at Brantford Collegiate Institute and Vocational School (120 Brant Avenue, Brantford).

Synopsis
"This film covers the A to Z of men’s lacrosse, from its rich, Indigenous history to the present forms of men’s lacrosse, both the box and field games. This documentary explores several themes of men’s lacrosse: forming and maintaining professional teams and their players, college and leagues, the wooden stick controversy, and the growing of the game internationally from its North American roots. In fact, lacrosse will become an official men’s and women’s Olympics sport, beginning in 2028!" Read the full synopsis here.
About the Director, Joanne Storkan
Joanne Storkan is a former English teacher turned screenwriter, producer and founder of Honest Engine Films. After taking the leap to start the company in 2004, Joanne co-directed award-winning documentary, Dirt McComber: Last of the Mohicans. Storkan is also known for her work on Roots of Lacrosse, A Brave Heart - The Lizzie Velasquez Story, BOTSO - The Teacher from Tbilisi, and founded Monterey Bay Film Society to help youth explore the art of filmmaking.
