We work hard to provide opportunities to develop the child as a whole. Education goes beyond strong academic instruction. Academic success is supported by personal socio-emotional growth. As such, GBV focuses on growing WHOLE champions of learning by investing time into meeting children where they are at, and navigating an appropriate path towards success and well-being.
Monthly, we reflect on one of the Seven Grandfather Teachings:
We invite parents to celebrate students who achieve Gryphon awards at our school assembly. During this assembly we also celebrate our MATH ROCKSTARS! To be a MATH ROCKSTAR a child needs to demonstrate growth in the area of numeracy, whether that be with a positive attitude, a fearless exploration in math, or high scores. We are fortunate to have a math coach to support teachers and classrooms, helping students to dig deeper into learning.
Parent volunteers and additions to our active Parent Council are always appreciated. To be in school we require a police vulnerable sector check (free for parent volunteers), but we encourage all to get involved. It truly takes a village to raise a child! These positive connections between home and school are important to student achievement.
