Grand Erie to Pivot to Remote Learning

Today, April 12, the Ministry of Education directed all Ontario schools to pivot to remote learning after the Spring Break, effective April 19, 2021. Before- and after-school programs have been directed to close during this time. No date was provided by the government as to when in-person learning will resume for Grand Erie students.

During this remote learning period, D2L Brightspace and other virtual platforms will be used to provide synchronous and asynchronous learning to students throughout the school day. This includes the Grand Erie Learning Alternatives (GELA) centre. Students with special learning needs who cannot be accommodated remotely will continue to learn in person.

Grand Erie families who previously selected virtual learning through the Board’s Virtual Learning Academy are not impacted by today’s announcement.
As directed by the government, Grand Erie will continue to provide access to on-site child care centres and authorized recreational and skill building programs, when those programs are permitted to operate.
