Trustees elected Greg Anderson as Chair of the Grand Erie District School Board during the annual nomination meeting held on Monday, December 4, 2017. Anderson, who represents the City of Brantford, previously held the position of Vice-Chair, a role into which Trustee Tom Waldschmidt has been elected.

“I look forward to the year ahead working to ensure that all our schools meet the needs of each and every student,” said Anderson. “It’s to this end that I’ll direct my energies to help staff and Trustees work together to achieve this collective goal.”

Anderson was first elected to the board in 2014. He had a dedicated career in education in Grand Erie previously, working as a Superintendent of Education before retiring in 2013. He is also Chair of the Brant County Health board, and serves on the board of the Brantford Boys and Girls Club.

Anderson is joined by Waldschimdt, who represents Brant and Norfolk counties, wards 3 and 7, in the position of Vice-Chair for the coming year.

“My hope is that in working in alignment with our Chair, and everyone at the table, that we continue to bring student needs to the forefront of all our decision-making,” said Waldschmidt, a Fire Prevention and Inspection Officer with the County of Brant Fire Department. “I feel we can make this one of our finest years, and ensure that the educational experience of our students is a high point of their lives.”

Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 26,000 students in 59 elementary and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk. With a dedicated staff of 2,800, Grand Erie is committed to its goal of Success for Every Student.
