Brantford Collegiate Institute & Vocational School
Monday, November 7 to Thursday, November 10 – displays and guest speakers showed the wars and military conflicts in which Canada has been involved in.
Thursday, November 10th | 7:00 p.m. In the B.C.I auditorium, students will explore the horrors of war, honour all those who served Canada courageously abroad and at home, and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom and human rights. During the day, BCI will be holding 4 ceremonies during each school period for each grade in the school.

9:00 a.m. – Assembly

Period 2 Assembly
Onondaga-Brant School
10:45 a.m. – Remembrance Day service. The grades 6-7 classes transformed the school change room into a “soldier’s mind”. The design simulates walking through a plane and onto the beach of D Day and passing a civilian fallout shelter, field hospital, cemetery and the plains of Vimy Ridge. The school borrowed a range of artifacts from the Brantford War Museum for the room design.
St. George-German Public School
Grades 5-8 will travel to the Cenotaph at the town center and two of the students from the Student Leadership group will lay a wreath for the school. There will be an assembly at the school for grades K-4 and MCpl DaSilva will speak about what it is like to serve and protect peoples’ freedom. There will also be an additional number of presentations done during this ceremony.
Ryerson Heights
10:45 a.m. – Grades K-5 will be having an assembly in the gym. Grades 6-8 will be attending the Cenotaph.
Lansdowne School
10:50 a.m. – Assembly will be lead by grade 8 teacher, Cynthia Aldred, along with some of her students, the primary/junior choir and intermediate choir.
Branlyn
10:30 a.m. - Ceremony held with Notre Dame. There will be poems, readings and songs by students. Parents from both schools are invited to attend.
Major Ballachey
9:00 a.m. – Assembly for grades K-5. Students in grades 6 - 8 will attend the service at the Cenotaph.
Pauline Johnson Collegiate and V.S.
10:15 a.m. – Two assemblies will be held in the cafeteria, one immediately after the other.
Graham Bell School
10:00 a.m. – Ceremony will be run by the grade 6 teacher and students, while all classes will be contributing with songs, poems and laying of the wreath. Parents and families are invited to attend.
Cobblestone Elementary
10:45 a.m. – Assembly.
Woodman-Cainsville School
A service will be held in the school gym for students, staff and parents for grades K-5. The service will include work from students, laying of a wreath and a moment of silence. Grade 8 students will be attending the Cenotaph in Brantford. The grade 6 and 7 students are going to the service in Toronto.
Mt. Pleasant School
10:50 a.m. – Service led by a school committee.
Cedarland Elementary
An assembly will present information on John McCrae and presentations of “In Flanders Fields” and “Hallelujah”. There will be wreath laying by each class and playing of TAPS.
Dufferin
10:30 - An assembly in the gym will have music, poetry reading and video clips along with wreath laying, taps and a moment of silence. The grade 7/8 students will be present at the ceremony held at the cenotaph downtown.
Centennial-Grand Woodlands School
9:30 a.m. - All classes will be attending an assembly at this time, where the junior/intermediate choir and junior ukulele group will be playing. There will be a laying of wreaths at that time.
10:40 – 11:00 a.m. - Grades K - 5 students will attend this assembly, which will include a ukulele group and laying of wreaths, as well as two minutes of silence. The grades 6-8 students will be going to the Cenotaph at this time.
HALDIMAND
McKinnon Park Secondary School
10: 45-11:20 a.m. – School wide assembly.
Several history students will visit the Cenotaph to lay a school wreath with the local legion.
JL Mitchener
Students and staff will attend an assembly held at the school.
Students in grades 5-8 will be in attendance at the Cenotaph. Classroom based activities and a school wide focus will feature personal connections between family members and military service.
Walpole North
Students and staff will observe a minute of silence on November 11, 2016.
Wednesday, November 9, 2016 | 9:15 a.m. – A service was held in which members of the Legion attended and students participated in songs, poems and laying of wreaths.
Fairview Avenue
Grade 8 students will be at the Cenotaph on November 11.
Wednesday, November 9, 2016 – Assembly and welcomed the Colour Guard from the Dunnville Legion.
The school submitted posters to the Legion and will be creating Christmas Cards for soldiers this month.
NORFOLK
Lynndale Heights
Wednesday, November 11, 2016 | 12:00 p.m.
A service will be held in the Lynndale gym. Following the service, wreaths laid in the gym are moved to the front foyer of the school. Parents are invited to attend.
Waterford Public School
The entire school walks to the Cenotaph to take part in the Legion led service.
Waterford District High School
9:00 a.m. – An assembly will be held and the legion will be in attendance.
Simcoe Composite School
A school-wide assembly will be held. It will include student speakers, a slide show, video and will feature a band.
Langton Public School
10:45 a.m. – Students and staff from Langton Public School will join with Sacred Heart School for a Remembrance Day service at Sacred Heart Church in Langton.
Elgin Avenue Public School
1:20 p.m. - Remembrance Day service. A Veteran will be visiting to talk to students. Staff and students will be attending a community service to represent the school.
Delhi Public School
9:00 a.m. –Assembly, which will be attended by the Colour Party from the Legion.
11:00 a.m. - Grade 8 students will be attending the Cenotaph for and one of the student council students will lay a school wreath.
Valley Heights Secondary School
10:45 a.m. – An assembly will be held in the cafeteria.
Two students will also be representing VHSS by laying a wreath at a community service.
Boston Public School
2:00 p.m. – Classes will provide presentations at the assembly. Members of the Waterford Legion and the community will be in attendance.
Hagersville Secondary School

Lakewood Elementary School

11:15 a.m. – Assembly will be held for staff, students, parents and the community.

Two members of the student council will be representing West Lynn at a service hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion, held at the Simcoe Carillon tower.
