Success, pride and accomplishment filled the air at the Conestoga College School College Work Initiative (SCWI) celebration on Thursday, June 23, 2016.
Nearly 20 students accompanied by family and friends came together with teachers, board dignitaries and program supporters to join in the commemoration of the past year.
"I notice a lot of improvements in these students throughout the years," said teacher Ed House. "It's an exciting time: getting credits and moving towards a diploma to then go on to do whatever you want."
Brenda Blancher, Chair of SCWI and Director of Education for the Grand Erie District School Board, greeted students with words of encouragement.
"It's really important that you thank all the individuals who've supported you along the way - family, friends, and teachers."
Certificates of completion were distributed to students who participated in the Fit and Wellness Program and the Media Program. A number of students graduating this year will be moving on to Mohawk College, Fanshawe College, and Conestoga College.
Josiah Lewis was awarded the Teacher's Choice Award as well as selected to bring greetings to his peers.
"SWAC is an amazing program. It's always been about people here to help, and that's what I love about it," he said.
