On Thursday, December 10, 215 the students from Port Rowan Public School performed, a playful musical theatre adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet, “The Nut-Free Nutcracker”.
Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 performed to a packed house of family and friends at Valley Heights Cafeteria Stage. The evening of entertainment incorporated singing, playing of instruments, drama and even some ballet.
The musical is the brainchild of Mrs. Heather Chwastiak, the music teacher at Port Rowan Public School. Students have been working during music classes, under her expert tutelage, over the past month to perfect their performances.
The musical was a whole school effort as all staff worked together to create the set and props and provide extra practice for their students and it certainly paid off.
“The students were wonderful and extremely proud of their performances as were family, friends and school faculty,” said Port Rowan Principal Christine Stewart.
