William Lander, a Grade 8 student at North Ward School, competed in the Junior Canadian Computing Competition (CCC). The Junior CCC is a Grade 9-10 level online competition in which students are given five computer programming challenges to solve in three hours. There were 2006 competitors across Canada and William earned top honors with a perfect score of 100%.
“We are so proud of his achievement,” said Vice-Principal Tom Holmes.
William is currently preparing for two mathematics competitions: the Fryer on April 13 and the famous Gauss contest on May 11.
Last year the Gauss Contest, administered by the University of Waterloo and the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing, drew an enrollment of almost 84 000 students from schools in Canada and internationally.
Good luck William!
