Welcome to Grand Erie eLearning!

What is eLearning?
Ontario credits which are delivered over the Internet by Grand Erie Secondary teachers are called eLearning courses.

In Grand Erie there are 2 delivery models: synchronous and asynchronous.  Synchronous eLearning is unique to Grand Erie. Six rural schools (CSS, PDHS, HSS, DDHS, WDHS, VHSS) have designated period 2 as an eLearning period. Students will go to the eLearning lab during period 2 and will be supervised by a Grand Erie secondary school teacher.  All 6 teachers will be online period 2 and will communicate with all of their students using the tools available through the Learning Management System (LMS).  The face to face teacher will assist students with technical difficulties, teach their own students and supervise all of the students taking eLearning courses during period 2.  The success rate for students in this environment is similar to being in a regular classroom.

In asynchronous eLearning students will not be face to face with their teacher.  They may have access to a computer within their home school so that they can work on their course during the regular school day.  If this is not the case, then the student must have access to a computer and the internet at home. Please check the technical requirements for eLearning courses.  It is important that asynchronous eLearning students set aside at least 80 minutes each day to work on their course for them to be successful. There are over 80 courses, written by Ministry of Education, and available to Grand Erie students.

More information about timetables and eLearning are available under the tabs at the top of the page.
