Accommodation Review Committee (ARC)

The Board of Trustees has approved the Accommodation Review Committee's recommendation that Windham Central Public School be closed and that Delhi and Teeterville Public Schools expand their current programming to junior kindergarten to Grade 8. The closure of Windham Central is effective June 30, 2009, and the reorganization of Delhi and Teeterville are effective July 1, 2009. The Board also approved renovations to Delhi Public that will see the addition of a six room modular classroom, an expansion of the staff room, an upgrade to another classroom and some site work, at a cost of $825,000. In addition the committee approved upgrades to the change rooms and creation of some additional storage at Teeterville, at a cost of $100,000.

ARC RECOMMENDATION TO SENIOR BOARD ADMINISTRATION

The Norfolk South Accommodation Review Committee has approved the following recommendations:

Recommendation for Closing Windham Central Public School and Relocating Grade 8 Students

THAT the Grand Erie District School Board close Windham Central Public School and that Grade 8 students return to their respective schools (i.e. Delhi or Teeterville Public Schools) in September 2009

Recommendations for Delhi Public School

THAT the Grand Erie District School Board approve the following modifications to Delhi Public School in order to accommodate the addition of grade 7 and 8 students in September 2009:

addition of classrooms, using a combination of RCM rooms for long term pupil accommodation and portapac rooms not portables for the short term needs
expansion of staff room
upgrade the kindergarten classroom
meeting room to be used by personnel and community agencies
enlarge primary playground (by moving fencing)
address space for vice-principal if required
expand parking lot (addressed in conjunction with building permit)

Recommendations for Teeterville Public School

THAT the Grand Erie District School Board approve the following modifications to Teeterville Public School in order to accommodate the addition of grade 7 and 8 students in September 2009:

expansion of gymnasium
additional storage
upgrade change rooms
expansion of parking lot (addressed in conjunction with building permit)

Transition Committee

THAT the Grand Erie District School Board establish a Transition Committee to oversee the closure of Windham Central Public School, disbursement of furniture and assist with a smooth transition for students to Delhi and Teeterville Public Schools following final Board approval.
