Information on Grand Erie’s Switch to Remote Learning

TUESDAY, JAN. 4, 2022

The Grand Erie District School Board has reached out to all school families following yesterday’s Provincial announcement of the two-week move to online learning.

Beginning Wednesday, January 5, all students will have access to online learning, with synchronous online learning in full operation by Friday, January 7. During this remote learning period, D2L Brightspace and other virtual platforms will be used to provide learning to students throughout the school day. In-person learning is anticipated to resume on January 17 for secondary students, and January 18 for elementary students, as January 17 is a PA for elementary schools.

Grand Erie families already enrolled in online classes will resume learning on January 5.

Parents and guardians can make arrangements with the school to pick up necessary items such as musical instruments, technology, or emergency items such as medication.

Grand Erie has advised all families of this switch to remote learning and provided access to a survey to be used to determine and then meet any device or connectivity needs across the district.

Our survey is now closed. If you need a device or connectivity for a student to access online learning, please contact your school directly.

Childcare programs for non-school age children remains open, while before and after school programs are closed during this temporary move to online learning.
