The Business Studies Department offers a variety of courses that provide students with the opportunity to develop a basic understanding of how the world of business operates. Some courses are designed for students who wish to specialize in business programs at a college of applied arts and technology or a university. Other courses are designed to develop skills that are acceptable to business and industry for direct entry into employment. Among the fields of study offered in the department are:
- Introduction to Business
- Information Technology
- Accounting
- Marketing
- Entrepreneurial Studies
- International Business
- Computer Programming
In addition, these courses provide a great deal of specific information and experiences of a personal nature that will help students in their daily lives.
Business Certificate Endorsement
Any student that successfully completes 5 or more courses in Business Studies OR in Computer Programming and Information Technology will receive a Certificate of Endorsement in Business Studies with their graduation diploma if they wish. This certificate is a quick way for the student to show potential employers or post secondary institutions of their completion of a number of business courses. (If the student wishes the certificate they must apply for it in their final year.)
