Grand Erie Ready to Welcome Back Students Beginning Tomorrow

While it’s a back-to-school like no other, Grand Erie District School Board’s focus this fall remains a safe and successful return for students – whether that’s in-person or online. Grand Erie elementary and secondary students will return to the classroom gradually, with a staggered entry beginning tomorrow.

“Things will certainly look different this year,” said JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education. “Our staggered start brings with it an opportunity for students, families and staff to ease into new routines and to get to know each other again after being apart for nearly six months.”

The start of the 2020-21 school year also marks a special occasion for Roberto: it’s her first in Grand Erie since assuming the role of Director in August. To mark the milestone, and to help facilitate an introduction to students, families and staff during COVID-19, the board released a video on Wednesday featuring Roberto. Completed last month, it offers insights into the new director’s career in public education as well as her hopes for Grand Erie moving forward. The video includes footage of students and staff captured prior to the pandemic. Find the video here.
