Registration is now underway for Summer School 2020. Courses for students in Grades 6-12 will be offered in July through Grand Erie District School Board. Students can earn a full credit, change to a different pathway, recover an unsuccessful credit or upgrade marks.
“Summer School is especially important this year as a result of the COVID-19 school closures,” said Lisa Munro, Superintendent of Education, responsible for the Summer School Program. “Summer School offers a unique learning environment for students, with a condensed schedule to accelerate achievement. This year, there’s a wide range of course offerings, so it’s a wonderful opportunity for students looking to get ahead or to get back on track.”
Summer School opportunities will be offered using a virtual learning environment, and include eLearning, credit recovery, reach ahead credits and course upgrading. Summer school students receive the same credit value they would during the school year. Full credit courses run for four weeks. Credit upgrades and credit recovery courses run for two weeks.
Reach ahead credits are available for Grade 7-8 students. Two-week literacy and numeracy courses are available for students in Grades 6-7. Registration is completed through the student’s home elementary school.
Summer school begins Monday, July 6 and ends Thursday, July 30.
