MPSS Grade 9 Orientation Day

Dear Parents/Guardians and MPSS Students:

Welcome to McKinnon Park Secondary School.  We look forward to working with you over the next few years. At MPSS we are endeavoring to improve communication between the school and home. We use our School Messenger system to report daily attendance and important dates and school events. In order for us to keep you informed, we ask that each student fill out a Student Information Sheet.  It is very important that each parent includes an email address. This year, early Registration Day for all Blue Devils will occur again. All grade 9 students and parents are invited to attend an Orientation Day on Wednesday August 31, 2022. 

·       9:00 am – Students, Parents / Caregivers arrive and report to complete the student information sheet and important documents which must be completed before they receive their timetable after which, Parents / Caregivers will be asked to leave, and students will attend THE CONNECT assembly in the gym. 

·       Following the assembly, THE CONNECT crew will organize Ice Breakers in home rooms as well as give students tours of the school.  Lockers will be assigned, and locks will be available for $8.  Students will have the option to purchase through cash online (should be available the week of August 22^nd) or can bring exact cash on this day.

·       11:30 am - Refreshments and hotdogs will be available outside at the BBQ then students can go home. 

Students wanting to make a timetable change regarding pathway are asked to check in with the guidance staff on this day following the morning activities at 11:30. Please note, timetable changes cannot be accommodated for social reasons as many classes are at capacity.

If you are unable to attend the grade 9 registration on August 31st, your student can locate their homeroom alphabetical list of students posted on the cafeteria windows on the first day of school, Tuesday September 6, 2022.  Once in your period one homeroom class, your teacher will give you your timetable. 

Please be advised that the method of payment that we use is School Cash Online at https://www.schoolcashonline.com/. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, which must be approved by the Principal, all payments must be done online.

Parents and students are asked to order their spirit wear online.  It will be shipped right to your door and rebates from purchases will go towards Students’ Council fundraising.

Get involved in school activities: clubs, sports and leadership opportunities and remember that you should have started achieving, or have already completed, your 40 hours of volunteer hours necessary for graduation.
