Trustee Greg Anderson Acclaimed as Grand Erie District School Board Chair for the 2019-20 School Year

 

For the second year in a row, Trustee Greg Anderson was acclaimed as Board Chair at Grand Erie District School Board’s Nomination Meeting on Monday night. Anderson, a City of Brantford Trustee, will serve as Grand Erie’s Chair of the Board for the third-straight year.

“I’m honoured that my Trustee colleagues have once again supported my leadership,” said Anderson. “Over the past two years, we have much to be proud of as we’ve remained focused on our Multi-Year Plan and our goal of Success for Every Student. As we continue to move ahead, I look forward to once again working with my colleagues and representing the Board in all of our communities across the system.”

Anderson, in his second term as a Trustee, was first elected during the 2014 Municipal election. Prior to running for office, Anderson had a dedicated career in education as a teacher, vice-principal and principal. He was a Superintendent of Education at Grand Erie for more than a decade before he retired in 2013. In 2016-17, Anderson was Vice-Chair of the Board before moving to Board Chair in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Trustee Rita Collver, who was Committee of the Whole Chair this past year, was acclaimed as Vice-Chair of the Board for 2019-20. Collver represents Norfolk County (Wards 3 and 7) as well as Brant County.

Other election results from Monday’s Nomination Meeting include:

  • Trustee Susan Gibson (City of Brantford) was acclaimed as Committee of the Whole Chair;
  • Trustee Carol Ann Sloat (City of Brantford) returns as Committee of the Whole Vice-Chair (acclaimed);
  • Trustee Don Werden (Norfolk County) returns as Grand Erie’s Ontario Public School Board Association (OPSBA) Director/Voting Delegate (acclaimed); and,
  • Trustee Rita Collver was acclaimed as Grand Erie’s OPBSA Alternative Director/Alternative Voting Delegate.

Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 26,000 students in 58 elementary and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the Counties of Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk as well as secondary students from Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

Blood, Sweat & Cheers!

Port Dover Health & Fitness Centre & Port Dover Chiropractic Centre hosted the third annual community fundraiser "Blood Sweat & Cheers Port Dover" on Saturday, June 17, 2017! This 5 km obstacle fun run resulted in all proceeds donated to Lakewood Elementary and St. Cecilia's for outdoor recreational equipment and refurbishments to the Todd Eaton Memorial track. Lakewood Elementary School staff, parents and students are truly grateful for this support. Thank YOU!


Running Club - Wednesdays 3:15 to 4:15pm

Our focus will be track training for sprints and long distance.

Students should have proper footwear - running shoes not board shoes. A light jacket or sweater is often needed and track pants, capris or soccer style shorts.

The Running Club maintains a supportive, non-competitive atmosphere which allows all levels of runners to develop their running.
