Welcome Back Message from our Chair and Director

Dear Grand Erie families,

JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education, PhD.

There is something truly special and distinct about this time of year. The days are getting a bit cooler and shorter, and the air feels ripe with optimism and possibility. The blank slate of a new school calendar awaits, and the opportunity is here for us to make the most of these days, to realize our full potential and become the best versions of ourselves.

Grand Erie can’t wait to welcome you back to our schools and classrooms, and we’re thrilled to share some of the plans in the works to make this year our best one yet. We continue to focus our work on the collective goals and priorities outlined in our multi-year strategic plan, which moves into its second year. Guided by our vision – to learn, lead and inspire – and our mission to build a culture of learning, well-being and belonging together, this plan provides the goals and framework that guides our core work.

While the last few years have been challenging, we want to assure our families that Grand Erie’s educators and leaders are prepared and eager to do what they do best and get us all on the path to success. With expanded resources to help move us past the pandemic, a robust plan to support students’ mental health and well-being and a collaborative approach to finding solutions to the challenges education faces, we have good reason to be optimistic about the year ahead as we work towards our goals.

On behalf of Grand Erie’s Board of Trustees and senior administrative team, we hope the summer months have brought with them a chance to recharge your batteries, catch up with friends and loved ones, indulge in hobbies and adventures and allowed the space and time to think about what you want to make of the year ahead. Together, we are ready to learn, lead and inspire.
