April is a critical month for elementary school attendance. Consistent attendance ensures students maintain academic progress, strengthen routines, and stay connected as learning builds toward year‑end outcomes. Every school day matters—regular attendance supports student success, well‑being, and a strong finish to the school year.
Grand Erie schools are required to practice a minimum of six fire drills throughout the year. We make every effort to practice when the weather is conducive to being outdoors. Typically, these drills are spread throughout the year. Grand Erie schools also practice a minimum of two lockdown procedures in the school year. At Prince Charles we have 2 more fire drills and one lockdown yet to do for this school year.
Did you know? Students in Grades 1-8 can access Knowledgehook from home to practice and strengthen their math skills! Knowledgehook provides engaging, grade‑appropriate activities that reinforce classroom learning and help build confidence in math. Families are encouraged to log in at home to support ongoing practice and learning. If you have any questions about access or login information, please contact your child’s teacher.
For those Knights who are already using Knowledgehook at home, keep up the great work! We are proud of you.
Please see By Your Side, a parent/caregiver mental health resource hub from School Mental Health Ontario, designed to help parents and caregivers better understand their child’s mental health needs and access supportive resources.
Spread the word...if you or someone you know has a child born in 2022, they can start Kindergarten in September 2026 and registration is still open.
If you think you might be interested in volunteering for a year-end trip and are in need of a police check (including a vulnerable sector search), please contact Ms. Perritt as soon as possible so that you may begin that process. We would hate for you to miss out on the opportunity because you are waiting on your police check!
