​             Summer School 2017

Summer School is a Continuing Education Program offered by Grand Erie District School Board.  It provides students with various opportunities to:  earn full and half credits, change to different streams, or improve marks.  Courses are offered both in-class and online through eLearning.  Experiential learning is also available to students through Co-op.

Summer School also provides opportunities for students to follow a passion.  All courses can be seen on the COURSE SELECTION SHEET below.

Summer School will run from Tuesday, July 4 to Friday, July 28, 2017, 8:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.  The only exception to this is the start time for the first day only, July 4th, will be 10:00 a.m. while the end time for the last day only, July 28th will be 12:00 noon.  Board transportation will be in accordance with these times. 

Full Credit courses run for the entire four-week duration. However, Dual Credit, the Grade 9 MathTransfer Program, Elementary Literacy/Numeracy Program and Civics and Careers is 2 weeks.  Civics course is Semester 1 and Careers course is Semester 2.  First semester will run July 4-14, while second semester will run July 17-28.

CREDIT RECOVERY COURSES START JULY 6th, 2017 AND END JULY 17, 2017 (8 days).  Students need to contact their guidance counsellor for information and to register.

NOTE RE: eLEARNING COURSES:  CURRENT SECONDARY STUDENTS WILL USE THEIR granderie.ca ADDRESS, WHILE OTHERS WILL PROVIDE THEIR PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS.  ACTUAL WORK IN THE COURSES DOES NOT START UNTIL JULY 4, 2017.  COURSES OPEN JUNE 28 FOR THE eLEARNING ORIENTATION TO BEGIN.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Summer School registrations MUST be received by June 28, except 1-Credit Co-Op whose deadline is June 16 and e-Learning whose deadline is June 23, 2017.

Reminder: All current secondary school students must have forms signed by their Guidance Counsellor.   Please refer to the forms below for registration and information.  Please pay special attention to course information on the General Information form as courses vary in length and some have different start dates.  **Board transportation can be found at the bottom of this page**

What's Happening
​Christina Cowell from the YMCA "Youth Gambling Awareness Program" will be at GELA Rawdon on Monday to visit with students and raise awareness to the issue of gambling and how individual's can better make informed decisions on the issue.
