Grand Erie schools have lowered all flags to half-mast to show our respect for Scott Johnson, Principal of Grand Erie Learning Alternatives (GELA).
In addition to a communication shared with all staff, the Director of Education, extends her condolences to his family and send her support to staff at the Grand Erie District School Board.

Dear GELA Students, Staff and Parent Guardians,
We are saddened to inform you about the death of Scott Johnson, Principal of Grand Erie Learning Alternatives (GELA). Mr. Johnson was a much-loved Principal in the GELA community and throughout the Grand Erie District School Board. He was an advocate for student voice and worked hard to ensure that every student was successful.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, the GELA community, his work family and all others connected to his loss.
Support staff and community resources have been at the school/sites and will continue to be available. If you have questions and need additional care/resources, please do not hesitate to contact the GELA main campus line at 519-753-6079. Your call will be redirected to the appropriate site and person.
In addition to seeking support from a caring adult at the school and/or sites, help is available to students and staff if you require assistance.

There are no funeral arrangements available at this time. A representative from the Board will attend when that information becomes available.
